Old Age Financial Assistance | Qualified members in accordance with AMOSUP agreement/s who has reached the age of 55 years old and is no longer working on board a vessel but has been a bona fide member for a minimum of five years of service on board vessels covered by the AMOSUPs’ Collective Bargaining Agreement, shall receive an Old Age Financial Assistance subject to the recommendation of the Special WMBP Committee and approved by the Union President as follows: (10 months actual on board is equal to 1 year of service) – for the first year of service P2,000.00 – for each year of service thereafter P 500.00 This is payable in lump sum but shall not exceed the total number of years you have actually served on board vessel/s with Union CBA. WMBP AID Death Financial Assistance | In case a member died while on shore leave and has not received an OLD AGE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE or is not qualified under DEATH WITHIN 30 DAYS GRACE PERIOD OF MEMBER but has been a bona fide member of the union for a minimum of five years of service on board vessels covered by any AMOSUP Collective Bargaining Agreement: The member’s beneficiary shall receive an Aid-Death Financial Assistance subject to the recommendation of the Special WMBP Committee and approved by the Union President as follows: (10 months actual on board is equal to 1 year of service)

Death of a member while on board
Should death occur to member while on board a vessel under a valid and subsisting CBA with the WMBP agreed between the AMOSUP and the shipowner and during the effectivity of said CBA, the services offered are:
- FUNERAL SERVICE – rendered to all bona fide members FREE-OF-CHARGE under the Plans contracted by AMOSUP with the APEC Plans* and St. Peter Life Plan*. All extra charges such as upgrading and extra kilometers (if remains will be bought to the province), airline or ship fare will be charged to the family or to the company. Plan limit is 25 kilometers.

In case of death or serious disabling physical injuries when a member is no longer on board the vessel due to;1) completion of contract, 2) expiration of the CBA, 3)naval/maritime risks and hazards the following reduced benefits and schedules are granted:

No, sorry but you cannot file another claim for the death of your mother. Death benefit may be availed for only one parent.

Aid Death Financial Assistance is a benefit given to a members’ beneficiaries in case a member perished when the latter has not yet claimed his/her “Old Age Financial Assistance”.
In any other cases, when a seaman is a bonafide member of AMOSUP and has been an active member for at least two years, and upon submission of requirements the benefit that may be claimed are as follows:
- Financial assistance and Funeral allowance
Member’s spouse/child/parents P2,000.00
A qualified member under an AMOSUP agreement who has;
a. reached the age of 55 years;
b. will no longer work on-board;
c. is a bona fide member for a minimum of five years; and
d. who has boarded vessels covered by an AMOSUP CBA
shall receive an Old Age Financial Assistance after submission of requirements and subject to the recommendation of the Special WMBP Committee and approved by the Union President the amount of which are as follows:
a. for the first year of service P2,000.00
b. for each year of service thereafter P500.00
If a member is below 55 years old and is physically and medically unfit for any kind of work, he or she can avail of said benefit.

No benefit or financial assistance shall be granted under the WMBP in case of death by suicide, war or acts of war and/or civil commotion, insurrection, rebellion, uprising or similar political controversies, earthquakes, tidal waves or acts of God.

No. WMBP is a benefit plan for all the retired members and their legal dependents that provides welfare and financial benefits.
On the other hand, the Provident Fundis a benefit scheme for active members wherein the participating companies contribute to the fund of the seafarer, depending on the CBA covering the seafarer’s contract of employment.
