Five doctors recently joined the roster of Seamen’s Hospital Manila, further reinforcing its present staff. The hiring of the new specialists is line with the hospitals aim of serving the increasingly complex needs of its growing membership.
The welcome additions to the Seamen’s Hospital Manila family are Peggy Ann V. Manese, Doctor of Ophthalmology; Dennis Eusebio A. Baladiang, Doctor of ENT-Head & Neck Surgery; Jay S. Fonte, Doctor of Endocrinology & Metabolism; Ronald A. Manese, Doctor of General Surgery; and Racquel R. Adaza, Doctor of Gastroenterology.
Drs. Peggy Ann Manese and Ronald Manese are both graduates of De La Salle University College of Medicine in Dasmariñas, Cavite. They joined the Seamen’s Hospital Manila Medical Staff in October 2010 and February 2011, respectively.
Dr. Fonte, who joined the staff last January, had his residency at the Ospital ng Makati and fellowship training in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital.
Dr. Baladiang graduated from Far Eastern University-NRMF and had his residency at the Ospital ng Makati. Dr. Adaza is a graduate of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila College of Medicine and had her residency at the Ospital ng Maynila. Both Drs. Baladiang and Adaza joined the Manila staff last February.
The addition of new specialists come at a most opportune time when the number of availments of hospital services have risen dramatically. While in-patient availments have risen marginally from 4,866 in 2009 to 4,869 in 2010, out-patient treatments have increased from 112,740 to 132,320 during the same period. Medical consultations have also registered substantial increases with the Medicine department figures leaping from 48,205 to 65,027, the Surgery Department numbers jumping from 14,764 to 15,491, Orthopedic Surgery from 1,780 to 2,225, and Rehabilitation Medicine from 4,336 to 6,317.
